Our Intention
As lineages, practices and innovative forms of yoga continue to evolve alongside rapid technological change — World of Yoga endeavours to empower the yoga community with opportunities to celebrate, connect, and create — independent of any one platform.
To accomplish this, we chose to create an NFT collection - A digital manifestation of yoga’s evolving journey, with infinite possibilities yet to unfold.

The Collection
The first collection in World of Yoga, DEVATARS, is a collaboration between
Dustin James and artist Alexa May.
Alexa hand-illustrated over 1000 attributes for the Devatar collection in Adobe Illustrator over the course of two years, blending her unique artistic style with a deep respect for the original artistic traditions and depictions.
These hand-drawn layers were then programmatically combined to create thousands of unique representations of five powerful Hindu deities:
Shiva, Kali, Ganesha, Hanuman, and Lakshmi.
This collection sets the foundation for a borderless community united by a passion for contributing to the living tradition of yoga in a digital age.

The word Devatar is a combination of the terms “deva” and “avatar.”
In Hinduism, Devas/Devis are powerful and benevolent beings responsible for maintaining the natural order of the universe and protecting the earth from chaos and destruction. They are often worshipped and invoked for blessings, guidance, and protection.
The term "avatar" has evolved to refer to a digital representation of oneself in the digital age. Unlike the typical profile picture avatars used today, the Devatars are designed as powerful guardians of your digital space — entities you can carry with you on your device, offering protection and presence at all times.
Your Devatar is more than just an image — it becomes a sacred presence. Use it as a wallpaper, profile picture, or a portable tool to deepen your bhakti and meditation practice, connecting with the deity’s wisdom and blessings wherever you are.

How it Works
Our intention for World of Yoga is to empower the yoga community with opportunities to create, celebrate, and connect — independent of any one tech platform. For that reason we chose to create NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens).
Each unique NFT is composed of two provably unique components: a unique code and a unique piece of digital art that live as part of a larger collection on the blockchain.
The non-fungible (uniquely 1-of-1) code serves as the verification mechanism that connects you (and only you) to our online community.
Our collection is upheld by a trustless smart contract. If you own a legitimate NFT from the Devatar collection then you can use it to access all of its benefits.
If you don't want to access those benefits anymore then you can sell your NFT and your access will transfer to the new owner.
This means that a fluid community of members can exist on any and multiple platforms across time — and you can simply use your NFT as a key to unlock access to a growing set of use cases.
This functionality enables anyone on earth to build something for our community and instantaneously grant access to all of its members.
No administrative effort, no multiple logins and passwords,
no platform migrations, no third-parties.
